Description:
Symantec’s Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh® is the world’s most trusted antivirus solution for Macintosh systems.* It removes viruses automatically, cleans infected Internet and email downloads, and defends against emerging threats. Now it’s also compatible with Mac OS® X v10.4 “Tiger,” and takes advantage of that operating system’s advanced features to help you protect your Mac® even better. The Tiger Dashboard gives you quick access to key features of your Mac OS X applications through mini-applications called “widgets.” Use the new Global Threat Assessment widget to quickly check your system’s virus protection status, and to get the latest information about current virus threats directly from the experts at Symantec Security Response. Norton AntiVirus 10.0 for Macintosh also streamlines your virus defense by letting you scan from Mac OS X contextual menus. Use these controls to quickly check files, directories, or entire disks for viruses. Custom SafeZones save time by not scanning volumes you already know are virus-free, and Smart Volume Scanning skips CDs and DVDs that have previously been scanned. LiveUpdate makes it easy to keep your virus protection updates current against new threats. Don’t jeopardize your valuable data or risk passing infections to colleagues with PCs. Protect your Mac today with award-winning Norton AntiVirus.
Norton Personal Firewall 3.0 for Macintosh® keeps hackers out and user data in. Initial setup is fast and easily configurable, with options for auto-setup, and minimal, medium, or maximum protection. Once installed, the firewall renders Macintosh® systems invisible on the Internet.
Administrators can now control outbound as well as inbound connections so Trojan horses and other malicious programs cannot send data from client computers without the user’s knowledge. Administrators can also customize settings for specific corporate needs, such as allowing or blocking connections by specific ports, IP addresses, and protocols.
The firewall automatically detects all available Internet services and only activates them upon user request. A new one-click setting limits access to a computer, or to users on the LAN or Internet. Users can turn off the Rendezvous service on their Mac® systems and can download files via FTP without turning off the firewall.
Norton Personal Firewall offers the user multiple ways to view the status and activity of the protected computer and the firewall itself. In addition to alerting the user to intruders, the firewall can also display information about all currently connected users—a helpful tool for finding and eliminating computer vulnerabilities. A firewall status window, self-test mode, and comprehensive logs help IT staff see exactly how Norton Personal Firewall is protecting the system.
